My first topic on this website looking for advice gets deleted? Not a good way to get people to sick around. Wow.

I'd like to but I don't understand why that topic got removed. Was there something wrong with the stamps I posted scans of?

I suspect there was a misunderstanding of some sort.
Best not to dwell, just keep on posting lovely pictures of stamps.

Not dwelling but before I continue on sharing what I have here id like to know why that got deleted before I waste anymore time here.

It was likely because it sounded like an offer to sell instead of asking for info. Not saying it was; I really think it was a misunderstanding, as members here did offer to buy.

That's a no-no without 50 posts and being a site-supporter. Just post the images again without yet hinting that they are for sale, and it should be alright.

It might have been deleted because you were trying to sell something without first jumping through all of the hoops.

Yes, Really:

I flagged it for deletion because it was your very first post essentially saying "I have a big box of stamps but I don't have time to collect. How much will you give me for it?"

If you read the rules, as required, new members are not allowed to engage in buy/sell activities until after they reach 2 weeks of membership and 50 quality posts on the discussion forums. https://www.stampcommunity.org/rules.asp#rulesid12

I think you'll find that SCF is very welcoming to new members who want to learn and share the collecting experience. But the rules are to protect all the members and they are enforced.

Essentially? I didn't say I was selling anything as I really dont even know what I have. I can't help people for wanting things that were in my scans.

Id appreciate having the topic restored...

And for the record, nothing is for sale (at the moment).

Hope you will stick around 'cause there are many really fantastic folks on this site interested in seeing what you have and hearing your thoughts on stamps. If you're interested in becoming or staying a collector, this is the place to be. Look forward to seeing you again on SCF.

joegti10, why don't you use the 'send note to staff' link in the lower right corner of your post and ask? Nothing makes the situation worse than speculation, on everyone's part.
And of course, welcome. Not all your experiences here will be so disappointing, I'm sure.

People on SCF come from all over. In some cultures it is only natural to be more free-wheeling and less focused on following the rules.

That is not to say they should not follow the rules, but those individuals should be communicated with directly to help them understand that the rules apply to them as well.
