I have 2 plate blocks #1608 .50c oil lamps. is one of these counterfeit?

powerbowlers...First, welcome to the forum.

A plate block, or plate-number block is a block of postage stamps that includes the part of the sheet margin with the serial number of the printing plate(s) used to print the stamps.

Neither of those stamps is a counterfeit. they are very nice!

Welcome to the group Kent. I err, I mean WE have all been where you are and the best way to learn is to ask. I know you may feel like, "DUH, I should have known that." I know I have many times. But in the long run I think it's better to feel that and be in the know, then to not know and be wrong. I hope this makes sence it has been a long night.
