Are Double Perf Rev. Stamps Rare ? Is There Any Extra Value

I think that rev. stamps are the best stamps to collect. Here are some of my double perf stamps. Even if they are less valuable, I still love these in my book. They are cool to me.

Alas, no. Back in the 1890's, double perfs were all the rage for a few years. The perforating wheels had been sold off as scrap around that time, and were bought by stamp dealers (surprise, surprise). Some of them went into the business of supplying double perfs in a big way, consequently they are very common and worth less than normally perfed stamps. There probably were some genuine errors created, but even used on a document it takes an expert to decide if it is even possibly genuine.

I view them as damaged stamps and avoid them whenever possible. They're even below punch cancels, because at least with the latter, the damage is genuine and normal to the use of the stamp. Not so with freak perfs.
