OK, of what little bit of knowledge I have in this area I will add that these are a very specialized are that I enjoy collecting on the side. Fakes are out there but usually a close visual inspection of the front and a look at the back will usually be spotted as trimmed display cards but there are better fakes as with anything.
Concerning price/evaluation- Well, All over the place depending on exactly what you have (best described above) and I have seen these sold (as a complete set)anywhere from $50.00 (I could have kicked myself for not buying that)to $1200.00+/- (for the "on card" proofs) and asking prices of just insane numbers that are totally unreasonable. The normal run-of-the-mill proofs go for about 50-ish% of catalog value, and really are a thing of beauty however the market is really soft on the most common singles so it would be a labor of love not investment to buy them. Just my personal take on it.
