My 2008 Scott Catalog lists a #563 and #563a. None of my older Scott Catalogs recognize a Scott 563a (1988 & 1972). Are they both #563 or #563a? Or one and the other?

2008 Listings:

563 -- "Light Blue"
563a -- "Light Bluish Green"

Could the top one be "light bluish green" and the bottom one "light blue"?

Thanks

There was a previous SCF thread on this very subject

Personally, the stamps you scanned do not look to be a significant enough of a color difference to identify it as a 563a versus 563. But then again, scanned images can be deceptive. As a practical matter, there is no change in value, either way.

When looking at the colors always use the basee color first.
563 -- "Light Blue"
563a -- "Light Bluish Green"
Is it mostly blue or mostly green?

Amazing. That topic was created just a few days before I received these stamps. I never would have thought to look for it. Thanks.

The bottom one looks definitely more bluish than the top. The scans came out very well. Borrowing Russ' image, this is how I see it...

...which essentially says the top one is 563a. But the bottom one is another shade of ...I'm guessing #563a? My bottom one is certainly not as blue as the two in the lower right of the above scan.

Both look "mostly green". So I am Identifying both then as #563a. Anyone agree?

Good morning..
Sorry for replying to this old post , but I think it was better than opening a new topic about the same stamp..
I was classifying some spare stamps from the 1922 series, and this one was just one more poorly centered stamp..but it has a small difference in the top left frame.. My question is.. what could that be, and how it happened..I know some of you are real US experts, so I think i'm in the right place...I'm aware that this could be a stupid question , but I prefer to do it..

Thank you

(Luis)
