Need Help US Franklin 1867

I have a U.S. FRANKLIN 1867 not sure if its the Z-GRILL
It is attached to the envelope and im kinda nervous to take it off im not experienced in doing that is is there a way you can look at it to see if its the z-grill? any help thanks or guidance on what to do is appreciated, thanks for you time

I can assure you that there is a 99.9% chance that it is not a Z Grill. If possible measure the grill, if that's not possible you can always send it in for certification. No way to tell from the scan you provided, way too small. Perhaps scan just the Stamp and crop away everything around the Stamp.

Take a deep breath. Now when you have the difference down between Mr. Franklin and President Washington then we can start learning about grills. Count the grill marks across and down. Don't let your mind wander and hope that it is one grill or the other. Just count the dots. Sometimes they are hard to see and magnification is critical. Do you have something to use that is 10X or higher?

Nice looking cover but as stallzer stated there is absolutely no way to tell from that image. I would hazard a guess that it's most likely an #88 or #94. Lesser chance of it being an #83 or #85. It's going to be even harder to tell wit it being on that cover but having said that I must advise you to leave it on the cover. If you send it out they will properly lift it, I.D. it, return it to the cover and then document it all so little to no value loss. Best of luck to you though!

i used adobe Photoshop and I put ticks on the stamp and the numbers are 16 down and 13 across hear is that image

I can't see a grill. Do you know if it even has one? What I mean is, can you see it in hand?

Are the points up or down? It can't be a B grill as there is only 4 known and all are accounted for? Not a C either. I don't even really see any Grill on that stamp? I wish you could show the back but you can't as it's on cover.

Those are just how many Perforations the stamp has. Grills are pressed into the stamps paper and will look like raised and lowered bumps.
Most grills are measured by MM, or how many Bumps they are in Dimension

the stamp is still attached to the envelope it seems to be flat but the paper on the envelope is kinda thick paper so I cant tell if it has any marking or bumps on the stamp looking at it on the front or back

Shine a light through it and see if you can see any grill points?

i counted on the teeth markings so I put a dot right so I could keep track of it 16 dots vertical and 13 horizontal

so I put a light up to it and got my magnifier and I don't see any grill marks the envelope paper seems to have indentions this is on the whole envelope

looking at it on the angle seems very flat
its hard to tell

It's a nice example of a Scott #65 on an advertising cover. Sorry you didn't get your Z grill but they are about a scarce as hen's teeth! (B.T.W. hens do indeed have teeth! they are found on the inner side of the beak up on top)
