So I've only been collecting stamps for about 4-5 months after I bought some stamps at an estate auction and a few from my grandfather. Slowly trying to collect stamps, mostly used for now since I don't have a ton of money. I have been selling some more valuable stamps I have found that I don't need to start fill holes (looking for more 1 of each stamp type than collecting a rare version or grill of a stamp)

So, to my question. I bought a Scott Specialized and was looking at the stamp below and noticed there seemed to be a lot of extra ink and ink blobs within the frame lines. The book doesn't mention a double impression or anything. I was wondering if this is just a random one off that isn't necessarily worth any more than the normal version of the stamp.

The Scott US Specialized usually will not list such items unless they are constant plate/production varieties. Even then, there are probably 10-100x of constant varieties that have been reported but never listed in Scott.

Interesting item, but just way too many of these EFOs to list in any single catalog.

Thanks for posting the pictures!

KHJ pretty much covered it. Just to add to her comments, EFO means "Error/Freak/Oddity". Over-inking rarely adds any value to a stamp, especially common stamps. Still, I encourage you to keep on flyspecking. This is how major errors are found!
