This one would look great in my collection! For whatever reason, I've been seeing more 1869 Pictorials with CDS/Town cancellations lately, than I have in many years. This one is expecially nice being that this cancel is unlisted in Scott. Brian |

Also extremely uncommon to have the guideline mark (UL) showing on the stamp. |

I don't see any straight line cancels on 6c stamps but I do see a 12c stamp with what looks like possibly a split grill or darn close to it. |

Interesting about the guideline, I have seen at least two in the past year in collections that were auctioned off. |

I'm confused about the "New Haven" on the 12 cent stamp. I see a "P". Where is the "New Haven"? It appears to be a much more modern cancellation than 1869 to me. |

Your right Sinclair it is a split grill I forgot to mention that. The stamp has lot going on split grill, guide arrow, blue town cancel, and straight line month day year which I never saw on the 1869 issue. Jerry |

I see the "New Haven" now. I guess the top is "POST OFFICE". This must have been used on a letter posted well after 1870, or a special postmark was used for international or registered email. The standard New Haven postmark of 1869-1870 was the typical CDS with "New Haven" around the top, Month Abb/Date in the middle, and CT at the bottom. |

Can anyone show a pic or drawing or something of what this cancel would look like in its entirety? I am having trouble visualizing a straight-line cancel with an oval around it. I have no clue about what this looked like. |
