I started collecting stamps when I was about 10 years old and would work on my album with my father who also collected stamps. I have tried to get back into it off and on for many years. I am once again getting back into it. So far I have realized that I don't know more than I do so I have been studying this forum, and other sites and books that I have. I would classify myself at this point as a hoarder, but am trying to change my ways. Several years ago my father passed away and I have his collection, but can't bear to look at it much yet. Is there a place here to ask stupid beginner questions? For me collecting is a journey and a learning experience, not in it for the money.

Hello and welcome Roberta, There are no stupid questions out here, that's for sure. There are only answered questions from all different angles. This is a serious stamp community. Someone is "always" there to help. Believe me I already beat you to some stupid questions. So look on the titles of all the subjects and put it in the subject it would best fit. Such as General Discussion under Main Stamp Collecting Forum. Get those stamps out and keep your Fathers memory alive, because that's what he would have wanted you to do. Respectfully, Gary

Hello Roberta, welcome to Stamp Community.

The Main forum section is a good place to start a new topic or three to ask questions.

The better your title, the better help and response you will get usually.

Say the country name and what type of stamp(s) it is and that will attract the interest of collectors who know and are interested in your question.

I think hoarding is OK in stamp collecting or accumulating because you always learn new things, especially here, and the more you learn the more you want to look at your stamps so you can tell new things about them and appreciate them all the more.

Doug
