This sounded like a great idea for a stamp nut so I did my home work and downloaded the forms form the USPS. The idea of hand canceling my own letters is cool. This will place my hometown on every letter / package I send out to all of you stamp nuts.

Well I was excited as I made my trip to the Post Office today. When I walked through the door we had some what of a traffic jam at the local UPS Office. Well lets say I was third in line.

It was then that I noticed Nancy had taken the day off and the Grinch was working. Well I quickly tucked all the paper work in my jacket just content to mail another small letter off to Canada.

After 5 mins I was still third in line. The replacement worker was having problems doing a money order and was on the phone for the entire time with Post Office Central. I actually felt sorry for her since it looked like she was really trying to help someone out.

It was at this point I decided to make the long 2 mile drive to the other post office, yes I'm lucky I have four very small post offices no more than 3 miles from the farm.

I quickly gave the letter to the clerk and said it is going to Canada and may I have stamps. He said no meter? I nodded then he proceeded to pull some stamps out and asked which ones I wanted to use. That was so cool. Since it was 96 cents I picked out a cool airmail and two three sent stamps.

So I will have some time this Monday to try and get my MPP started. This will work great for all that I send stuff too. It is pretty simple. The main rules are that I have to use my approved date cancel and then take it to the Post Office on the same day and hand deliver it to the clerk. I will make sure to ask it be placed with the meter mail so it doesn't get recancelled at the large Post Office.

You want to learn some more then go here.

Now I wish a certain person would stop posting all of this interesting stuff. Just joking but maybe I should name my future Local Post after you.

MKfarm,
I think my ears were burning...LOL I can't help it that I found something of interest to type about. I agree that is would be cool to postmark my own mail. I will start with the local post thing first, then consider the mailer's postmark permit.

stamperdude local post #**** sounds good!
