i do have a stamp of this type with a very different color also....i have posted it here before but the color is so very much different from all other copies I have...can I send it to anyone who may look at this stamp to make certain it is something or nothing?

the color really does not show well here it is much darker in person.




this photo look red but it is very dark

i have 100's of copies of this stamp and none this color...i may have to send away.

There was at least one billion (and possibly two or more billions) of this stamp issued, there will always be some shade variation with such a large quantity. Plus it has been 80 years now and the carmine/rose family is not an especially stable one.

LONEDAN, I don't see any trace of blue in your stamp. To be a Lake or Carmine Lake shade, you'd have to see some blue. If you have a 219D, compare the two. 219D is a lake shade. This of course, is based on the scan. If you see blue in the actual stamp, then you could have Bill Weiss give you an opinion.

If you must send it in Gator is correct. Bill Weiss is the stamp man to go to.

thanks for the info I was just checking,im new to the hooby so I was curious because the lot of 2c were much lighter "red" than this.

color seems hard to see in a photo online...and color is an important part of stamp collecting at times....but it never hurts to ask questions...never stop asking even if it may seem a silly question at times...
