Hello All,

I inherited a fairly large stamp collection a few years ago and have finally gotten around to attempting to organize them.

One of the books in the collection dates back to the 1850s and had been in the family for a few generations. It's absolutely beautiful, however I'm not sure if there is a better way to preserve these stamps or if there is anything I can do to protect them?

I'm not even sure if they have any value aside from my own sentimental, please have a look at the photos of a few of the pages. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Probably not much for value but there are a few Stamps worth posting individually to get a better look. Many US Stamps have the same design but there were little varieties which can make a Stamp more valuable, but we would need better scans / pictures. Condition is everything in Stamps so if you plan on keeping them you might look at a different housing situation for your Stamps, many here use album pages and hinges as long as they're in a binder or book then I think they'd be OK.

Also you might want to check the backs of the Stamps for Grills, (Checkerboard looking indentations on the backs of the Stamps)

Thank you stallzer,
I do see Grills on the backs of some. I will investigate that further, so much to learn!

Any in particular you'd like to see closer?

Thanks again!

That's a lovely little selection you have there and I, for one would be happy to receive something like that. I see quite a few US Internal Revenue stamps (used to help pay for the civil war) and a few "large banknotes" and "small banknotes", Columbians and postal seals. Welcome! Some of those seals can be quite collectable so better pictures or preferably, scans of these would be great. like stallzer said an album and hinges is a good way to preserve them. Some use Vario pages and lighthouse binders but those can get expensive if your just looking to house them and not collect. I hope you do decide to collect them! Here is a page that may help you identify some of them.

Thank you! I will definitely look into the link you shared and the Vario pages also. I have a large tub of stamps from all time periods, so I guess I'm a new collector :) Looking forward to learning much more from all of you! Thanks again for sharing!
