Hello everyone......

Do these Pheasant booklet stamps look alike to you ? Would it matter to you to learn that they are very different ? Some don't care as long as they have one as a sample......others need to have every possible variety. All three are from booklets of 10.

Don't bother trying to judge them by color. It's a lot easier to compare perfing.

The first 2 are #3050 & #3050b.

Notice that the corners of the #3050 are slightly rounded...the #3050b have sharper square corners.

Also, the "ears" of both #3050 & #3050b end feathered. The #3051 ends flat.

The #3051 has quite a confusing variety of serpentine perfing. Scott gives one number for the uprights and another for the tilted ones at top & bottom. The problem is that each of the uprights have different perfing....each position is unique.....they are NOT interchangable.

Current values are 20 cents each used except for the 2 tilted ones, they are valued at 50 cents used.

These were issued in 1998 and in 10 years of searching I've been able to reproduce a half dozen of each of the first 2 booklets (#3050 & #3050b).........I have 1 reproduced booklet of the #3501 and I'm missing 2 positions of a second and duplicates of most positions. This indicates to me that the #3051's are considerably scarcer and in my opinion quite under valued.

For anyone interested......For $2.00 I'll send a used pair of each of the #3050 & #3050b.......and 3 positions from the #3051 (one tilted, all id'd) with free shipping. Until they are gone....I have enough for 5 or 6 people.

Thanks for the info, I just got about 100 plus of these the other day. Now at least I can start to check them out and sort them a little better.

Hi NR-Notrare,

I just eat this sort of thing up! Thanks for sharing. I don't have a bunch of these to sort through checking for the varieties, but it is very interesting non-the-less. And you never know when a group of these may unexpectedly be aquired. Hope to see some more of this type of stuff in the forums.

Thanks everyone......

.....I'm glad to know you enjoy my effort to show you some of the minor varieties that many collectors overlook. Usually not much for hi-vals but they can make a collection stand out amongst the clones.....and possibly a little added value in the future.
