It is for a mega auction, he goes on to say you don't get it all you only get 700-800 items and they may or may not be shown in the pictures and they will decide what 700-800 items based on what you spent on your bid.

what a crap shoot- is this a lottery or gambling 101 ?

Puh-leeze ... Stay away from that one. They are trying to entice you by showing ONE item of any value, then others all over the place. No bid from me, thank you.

A sure sign that the 2 bidders fighting it out have not read the seller's description. I will gladly provide the following for $200+

- 50 grams of bulk U.S. stamps on paper some with complete post marks (approx. 175-225 stamps)
- 40 grams off-paper US stamps (approx. 520-560 stamps)
- 10 US 19th century (pre-1900) stamps between (you will receive one of the stamps pictured in the photo below) , some are mint and some have current book values up to $275
- 10 US stamps over 85 years old (almost all of these are pictured below.....just too much material)
- 15 ALL Different US covers (1860's-1960s) INCLUDING one (1) cover from the 19th century
- 4 US First Day Covers, some date back to the 1920s, some are engraved with cachets while others have blocks of 4 or are just addressed with single stamps
- 10 US Mint Never Hinged singles, dating as far back as the 1930s
- 4 US album pages, the number of stamps per page varies but no page will have just 1 or 2 stamps.
- 4 US mint blocks, booklet panes, coil strips, envelopes, postcards or any combination of these, dating as far back as the 1930s
- 4 US plate number blocks of 4 or more some may have no gum

ah, ya broke the rube code, your supposed to say you get 7-8 items similar to the list and you will pick them depending on what he bids, it is not to hard just go take a picture of a new car lot and have the heading for sale only you don't get everything and we will pick the car for you based on your bid. Then go to your local junk yard and find just the right mix of parts to box up and....oooh rusty mustang vintage ohboy!

It says: YOU ARE NOT BIDDING ON THE ENTIRE COLLECTION! YOU ARE BIDDING ON A LOT OF APPROXIMATELY 770-860 ITEMS

Who would really spend hundreds of dollars on something that one doesn't know exactly what one is getting, but which the seller will decide on what one gets?
Someone with lots of money to burn, but actually and usually someone who can't afford to lose money but usually ends up losing money anyways.
If I am spending big bucks on something, I would like to at least have some choice and control over what I am exactly buying with my money.
It's funny, no rather sad, how the most outrageous things such as flashy gimmicks get the most attention and make the most money for some.

Someone is going to be disappointed. I find this kind of listing very misleading. I wouldn't be surprised if we found out that he was bidding on his own stuff to drive the price up.

he could also sell it to himself to drive his rating. Mark it unpaid and avoid fees but still give himself positive feedback.

That's the old "bait and switch" game. To be blunt - you'd have to be out of your mind to bid on that.

Oh - and NOTE - all the bids are "cloaked" - as if someone would want their identity undisclosed for buying a bunch of - well, junk.

here is another scam the guy says winner of auction gets one album- I wrote him and he said depends on how much you bid weather you get good album that he picks out- I reported him to ebay, chance grab bag auction- in other words gambling instead of bidding on a real item that has pictures and real description. I am supposed to win an item with my high bid not win his selecting an item for me.

i thought I won the big bear at the carnival but he handed me this little tiny microscopic cupie doll.

Depends on your Bid! It could be Grape, or if your bid is good, Root Beer. Then again, if its too low; ear wax.
