Just purchased on ebay without specific ID from the seller... looks like maybe #9 from Scott Specialized ?

Hi, Kevin... thank you kindly for the confirmation... currently, I do not have any stamps in the collection with a scott # of 2 digits or less, so, I figured this would be an inexpensive place to start learning the early issues...

It could be a #7. Plating this stamp probably would not be that difficult considering the location of the guide dot and then you would know for sure what type it is (or was according to some purists). I see no actual evidence that the stamp has been used. If it is unused, who really cares? IMO, it is far better to have a decent used stamp with a legible cancel than a filthy old unused stamp.

sinclair.....looks like a light cancel above the "CE" in cents

It's coming from a European seller, so I'll know if it's a cancel for sure when it gets here... (2 weeks likely) and post again one way or the other... thank you both...
