The bottom two three are really suspect. the perfs on the top 2 cent two are all over the place, The green franklin is a bottom margin pair with perfs trimmed off top and the 2 cent 2 pair below that is an imperforate issue with added perfs. |

The only ones I think don't have tampered perfs are the 3 cent blue Washingtons. Need the perf measurements and the Image sizes to even get started. Taking a piece of foil, laying it over the stamp and rubbing it with the top of your fingernail will tell you if it is flat plate or offset printing, if that applies to these stamps. It's flat plate if you see the raised image of the stamp in the foil. If not it's offset.
This is what I would need to be able to give you the Scott Nos. Others here might just be able to tell by looking!

The first image of the 3-cent non-coil pair may be a good pair. Probably type II. Need to check for watermark and perf. measurement. Doesn't look like an off-set, but check it as previously advised. All the rest strongly appear to be fraudulent attempts to make coil stamps. |

The first three cent pair is #502. The second three cent pair is a Type I rotary coil - #456 if watermarked and #493 if not. All the others are flat-plate sheet imperfs trimmed into strips and having fake perforations applied to imitate flat-plate coils. Really awful perf holes! |

sorry for the delay in reply but I was out with the family, first and foremost thank you for helping those classified as not good I keep them separate, while the other two move the image of the rectro maybe it can help you. I tried to use the recommended technique to identify them but I think the translator has translated me to ship the dog. Simone |

As IBFS stated - all but the 3c stamps look suspect. In my opinion, the strip of 4 and the last three pairs all have perfs added - and really bad ones at that!

Tipzi, on the 456 or 489 pair, the center perf holes (between the stamps) look oblong east/west rather than north/south as I would think it should. Also, the fiber remnants are on the west side vs. north/south side. To me, that would indicate the perforation process was done with the stamps feeding sideways. I guess than that means the plates were places sideways on the press? Also, what indicates, from viewing the scanned image, that it is a rotary vs. a flat press issue? |

Pretty much the rule of thumb on Washington-Franklin coil pairs of any value is simple.
Without a cert, it's probably a fake. |

Al E, as far as noticing it's a rotary pair, the complexion plus the perf hole shapes just scream it to me. Rotary coils are perforated with a bar, which stretches the holes in the direction of the coil and imparts a roughness as you see on this coil pair. I've never seen a multi-punch fake with holes stretched sideways. Would be hard to do IMO but I guess could be done.
When it's 11x10 rotary coil waste issued in sheets, like #540, the perf 10 holes are from bar perforator and the perf 11 holes are from a rotary perforator, so holes should not be identically shaped.
In philately, it's funny how much info is right in front of our faces but we can't see it because we've either been taught something contrary or have mis-learned and/or mis-applied a fact that in turn skews our perception of the truth. |

The house has about defeated me, but if all goes as planned I'll move in in one month. The #21 (Plate 12) and #78c in the Siegel Rarity sale today were mine, so I got my re-wiring paid for! I recently came across the strip of 5 #500 we talked about... |
