Welcome. First day covers can be difficult. While they can be highly interesting and colorful there resale value is often not high. If your interest is in selling your collection try viewing some auctions on the various auction sites for ideas.

Are you wishing to begin collecting stamps or covers? If you are able post some pictures of your collection so we might be of more assistance. Some cover makers or cachet artists are more collectable than others. I collect Abraham Lincoln covers as a topical collection.

I suggest you go to a library or book store and get a First Day Cover Catalog to help ID what you have and the value. You may have to look at the cachet(picture on the left) to determine which artist or company produced the artwork. Most covers go for around $1 a piece for post World War II sometimes less as a group; this is because they are abundant and plentiful in the dealer market. Most dealers will not pay full catalog value.
