I suppose it's OK as a single, but it kind of suffers as a strip of 3 on condition grounds. [but makes for a good story; the other two were probably peeled off by the post office or by the the customer when it was realized the local stamps couldn't be used to pay postage] |

Similar problem with this cover from Sovenia. The front looks pretty good, but the back where the stamps are... ...only two of the original seven stamps that were on there have survived intact. |

Here's one I frequently show off at my table at my stamp club's bourse. It is Scott B68 (Mi Block 3) from 1935. This sheet, along with Germany's "Hindenburg" stamps (Scott C57-58) had sulfuric acid in the gum. The end result is what you see here - the sheet is completely disintegrating over time. Depending on where you live (read: dry vs humid climate), these stamps will fair better or worse. The ideal stamps have had the gum soaked off years ago - but you will pay a premium for them. Hi All Here is my worst of the worst stamp I have. As you can see it's a block of R59A. Got this at a western stamp show right at the close of the show, a dealer just almost gave it to me for $2.00. That's right two dollars. Don't know if it was worth the two dollars or not, every stamp has some sort of damage. Every stamp in the block has pin hole(s). Funny thing is no thins! Dave |
