UY10 has a press-printed surcharge (San Francisco). UY9 has a cancelling machine surcharge (1 of 14 cities).
The press-printed UY10 should look cleaner and more well defined. The Postal Card Catalog from the UPSS provides detailed descriptions of all 15.

The message-reply card at the link provided looks like a UY10, but a higher resolution scan of just the surcharge would be more helpful.

Thanks for the response. Here are some closeups of the surcharges if you could take a look at them, it would be appreciated.
Thanks again,
Bob

UY10. The image in the catalog even has the gap at the top of the "1".

I was staring at the numeral "1" in each overprint and at first glance it looks as if the "1" over George is a bit taller than the "1" over Martha so I actually went and measured them and they are EXACTLY the same.

An "optical illusion" of sorts, I guess.
