I have been doing some research with the Library of Congress archives and came across this 12 minute video.

It is from the Prelinger Archives Titled " World Through Stamps: The Stories Behind Postage Stamps, The (1957)"

Great Airmail History

StampyDampy..

According to the video, it was the going rate in 1957. I think the most recent sale was more in the neighborhood of a quarter million.

Yep, but if you'd bought one for $4000, it would be a 98% increase

Wow, to get one of those stamps would be huge.

Way out of the realm of doabiliy for me, though.

Me too, JD.

It's only something to fantasize about. Imagine just being able to say you owned an Inverted Jenny.

On the other hand, if I did own one, I wonder if I'd really keep it OR if I'd rather sell it and buy a quarter million dollars worth of "regular" stamps
