i find it interesting that we have a fair representation of ladies here on the forum..when we go to a stamp show..there are times when my wife is the only female on the buying side of the tables..usually a dealer or two will bring his wife along for company or to assist..but very few women seem to attend the shows...perhaps woman prefer to collect on an individual basis at home..with trading partners, approvals and internet auctions....

Interesting you should mention that Phil, there are only two of us in our stamp club.

I think that when people think of stamp collectors they visualize an older distinguished gentleman with a magnifying glass in one hand sitting prim and proper at his desk studiously examining his treasures.

I would think that ladies would like to attend a stamp show. Especially, since most are conversationist, outgoing, and like to shop. My club has between 30-40 members and I know of 5 women whom attend the meetings quite regularly.

I would LOVE to go to a stamp show, but I live in the boonies, its so far to anything! If I find one close enough (withing a few hours) I will go.

I always thought of "stamp collectors" as the same older distingiushed gentleman that Dianne described, lol.

Now, I think of them(us) as smart, wordly, cool people!

Our club has a good representation of women. As a matter of fact, about half of the regular attendees at Club meetings are women. I have also noticed that there is a fair number of females in attendance at our annual show. Most of them however, are postcard collectors.
