Can anyone provide insight on the scott numbers for these different 2cent washingtons?
Also, is there a particular stamp in the bunch that is more valuable then others? If so, which and what is the reason for this? I measure all the perfs as 11 will exception of the obvious imperforate...
As always, I certainly appreciate the knowledge shared...
Thanks,
dave

How are you able to determine that all the stamps are 499? It is my understanding that this particular series has perf 11 in many different scott numbers,
461
499
500
519
526
527
528
546

I think the majority of the pictured stamps are offset printing as the surface is very smooth.
I am just getting started in collecting so my knowledge is very limited though...

Thanks,

All are flat-plate printing, not offset [experienced eye can tell visually from a scan] - so eliminate 526/527/528/546
none has the denomination as "Two Cents" so eliminate 519
none has heavy toga button so eliminate 500

They could be 461 or 499, but the colors don't look like 461 - you need to watermark them to be sure.
For a beginner, these would be a good group to try out your watermarking skills. If any come up with a "U" or "P" or "S" - let us know!

cec100, the answer to your question has been treated ad infinitum on this forum. There are two different main viewpoints, but to me the best one is Ronsonol. Not only the best, also the cheapest but you have to watch the fumes and do not smoke while checking!
