You sure og???
Looks to be no gum.
If it does....does not look original.
Compare to a lower value....you will see that
it is more yellow looking.

Would original gum make much of a difference?

(I suppose re-gummed would bother me a lot.)

Check the Scott US Specialized Catalog. Values for sound, very fine and unaltered examples are $500 unused no gum, $500 used, $1,100 unused original gum (hinged or disturbed gum) and $3,750 never hinged. A certificate is recommended if buying a sound example. Most uncertified copies in the marketplace have one or more problems that would significantly impact value. A regummed stamp would be valued as no gum, if otherwise sound. However, if someone decides to add gum, why stop there? Why not fill a thin or iron out a few creases.

Thanks for the responses and the info. I have seen the values in the scott specialized catalog. I got it for a good price and I got it for my Columbian set in my album. I'm going to post that soon. Thanks.

Looks original gum to me... However perf crease? about 10 up left from looking at back. Possible tiny tear about 6 perfs up on right.
Entire left lower corner starting 4 perfs up needs closer exam as viewed from back ?suspect light crease. Also upper left corner (viewed from back) ? Corner crease . Centering is wonderful

Nice og, light hinged 1$

you need to look at arrowed areas more closely-- they may just be lighting issues or slight bends, but need better look. the upper left on the scan is most concerning for a crease

BTW george, I m NO EXPERT-- so don't go by what I say--- I have a day job.
and I only buy certified stamps if the stamp I want is worth more than 500$ sound.
I'll take chances only on low value stuff. But determining average collectors trying to determine soundness, regum, and the worst REPERF can be a disaster.
just my 2 cents

It is impossible to make a judgement about the gum without a good, clear and bright closeup pic of the edges and perf tips.

Watermark fluid will reveal creases, thins, and repairs.

UV light will also show problem areas, if they exist.

I would like to thank particular contributors on this forum for helping analyze stamps I have asked about. I would also like to thank essay and some others for educating me on many areas of philately.

I have always tried to be polite and thankful. I have tried to help others with their questions.

I recently returned to hobby about 6 months ago. This will be my last post. I've only been on this forum about 4 months.

I'll spend my summer golfing, working, and with my kids. I'm happy to leave the sarcasm and disrespect of people here like kevin504 who need to take out there anger on people they never met. To those who have been helpful, thank you. I no longer find posting or reading stuff here fun. I'm a collector. I don't sell anything. I am looking to have fun... This community is not fun when arrogant people are posting mean comments.
