Good Day All,
Can someone confirm that this is position 7L8 for me. The bottom frame line is cut off but I believe this to be from Plate 8. The weak top frame line says top row, it's Relief C with gash on shoulder, and has a position dot top right, and another dot top left. I can't find a scan of 7L8 for comparison. I have eliminated all top row positions from plate 7, and most top row positions from Plates 6 and 8. Those I haven't eliminated are 4 & 5L6; 1 & 5R6; 2 & 7L8; and 3, 4, & 5R8. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Art

Achilles, That's a pretty wide margin, bottom right. Does relief C eliminate position 10?

I actually considered 10L8. But after viewing scans of it, eliminated it because the tessellated work seems to be further away from the right side frame line than on the stamp in question. The dot at top right also looks a little to the left of the corner to me.

What's the width of that margin?

Achilles,

7L8 seems most likely considering the top dot. I tried to confirm it using the Chase prints, but I haven't yet. It would help immensely if you would soak and press this one before scanning. The left side appeared very wrinkled when I vertically compressed your image.

Stampcrow, the spacing was wide enough on plates 6/7/8 that the wide margin at right wouldn't eliminate an internal position.

Thanks Guys. Classic, I'll soak that baby and try to flatten her out; then post another scan. She is a bit wrinkly--but she's 160 years old you know .
