Came across these two stamps from my dad's collection. Does anyone know what's going on with the stamp on the right? Still very new to all this and sorry if it's a silly question but I am assuming it would normally be green like the one on the left?? Thanks in advance!

The stamp on the right looks like it has been chemically altered - no idea why.

Excellent question. Some kind of chemical or light changeling.

What would be the reason behind chemically altering it? Could it also have been soaked in something to remove it from the cover at some point and that have caused the change? Thanks!

I doubt it was intentionally discolored. But many things can chemically change a stamp color, note how the stamp paper itself is toned/discolored. It might have been used on a brown paper parcel and the acid in the paper discolored the stamp. Or it might be more environmental, stored in conditions which contaminated or discolored it. I would lean towards sunlight washing out all the green color.

Don, that is why I mentioned that I had no idea why anyone would want to alter this stamp. But I noticed that the cancel is also sort of weak, like it was bleached.

Not only is the ink color wrong, but the paper color is very off.
