While cleaning out my fathers house I found a lot of stamps. These are just a few of them, all Washington stamps. There are a lot of stamps these are just 13 of them. The purple one I think may be rare? I'd like opinions please. I am a newbie and know nothing, my brain is in circles trying to research... Thank You!

Welcome to the forum.
You might want to start with this web site for help identifying your stamps. http://www.stampsmarter.com/1847_landing.html

There is also a 'How To' (access from menu) section which should also help you.

Scout33, welcome to this forum. We will do our best and help you with this, but you are posting quite a bunch of different stamps - a bit confusing even to try to explain! I see you mention coils. Coil stamps are imperforated on top and bottom or sometimes on the left and right hand sides. You have two coils in the bunch above - the first stamp in the top row is a fairly modern coil ( 1960's ) and the third one in the third row. All the others are sheet stamps.
The website that 51Studebaker mentions is great. Another way would be a Scott catalog ( US Specialized ) that you may be able to borrow from the library in your town. In the catalog is an identifier of most definitive stamps that the US issued in the past 150 years plus.
Please do not hesitate to come back and ask more!

Peter

yes! 3 are Franklin, thanks for the correction and advice. Anyone know how to tell the value of some of these? Or, how to find interested buyers? I'll post more pics and keep it to 1 or 2 next time. Thanks again!

Could you scan the 3rd & 4th stamps in the 3rd row separately? Theses would be your only chance at having any of these that would be worth more than face value.
