I just found this one in a recent purchase. It has all of the indications of a double impression, including the double dot in the O of Postage. What do you think?

Not bad for $0.10 ...

I believe what you have is not a true double impression but what is termed a "Kissed Print", which several of the off-set stamps have shown. There is a nice article by Vincent Centonze in the August 2014 issue of The United States Specialist journal of the USSS.

If you're a member, you can find the article on-line in their digital archives. The article explains the difference between a Kiss Print and a true Double Impression. Both are collectible and nice to have.

This is an offset stamp. After each impression, the remaining ink on the blanket (the roller with the ink to be transferred from the plate to the paper) was not completely washed off. This may occur if the fountain containing water runs low.

Well, that is a total letdown! In any case, it now resides in my collection as an oddity, and the search continues. Thanks for the information.
