Hi Peter. yes trying to determine what numbers some of these are. I haven't received my perf guage yet so trying to use paper one. Are all the lines suppose to line up on the guage in the middle of the perf holes?.lol Is there an easier way , cant you just count the bumps between the 2 cm? I am laughing because I have about 10k stamps to look at oh boy.

The small white circles on the perf gauge should fall exactly in the perfs on the stamp. The lines line up with the middle of the tops of the perforations. If you have trouble try the search function on the top of these pages and search for "perforation gauge". You should get all sorts of great information!

Well, depending on the gauge you use, looking for an "exact" correlation between perforation gauge circles and stamp perforations might be a fool's errand.

In many (or all) cases when using a cheap perforation gauge (as I nearly always do), you are looking for the gauge that matches closest to the stamp. Sometimes they do not match "exactly", but in most (all) cases its pretty obvious that one gauge matches closer than another.

On the other hand, if you use a specialized gauge (which I do not usually, because its unnecessary), you would expect more precise (maybe even approaching "exact") measurements.
