There are so many ways to keep your stamps.I put my stamps in different bags even though it's not easier to sort them out. Because I don't have many stamp albums to put them in.Even stamp albums are expensive in this part of the world. Now I'm thinking of using paper hings.

A stockbook is a good way to house a collection, especially if you want to rearrange them easily. You could catagorize them in any way you like as often as you want. |

How about paste a hing on back of the stamp and paste it on a book? Isn't it worth? |

Nash, if the stamps are mint, there might be some debate about hinging them. If they're used or previously hinged, go ahead.
For mint stamps, some collectors prefer never-hinged. Three are several threads about the debate -- use SEARCH at the top of the page and type in hinge.

Glue? well, if that is your thing. Personally I would not glue a stamp in an album. Even if the stamp is already used, who is to say if the glue might not destroy the stamp over time? Also, can you be sure that the glue is soakable if you ever want to remove the stamp? No, too many problems. |

rohumpy: I didn't see anything about GLUE? Are you referring to Nash's use of the word 'paste'? I just assumed he meant hinging the stamps with regular stamp hinges. But obviously, I agree that glue would be a terrible idea as would tape |

I keep all of my sorted stamps in stock books. Of course, I have many thousands upon thousands of unsorted stamps that go straight into air-tight bins. When I get the proverbial wild hair, I break out an empty stock book and go to town. |

Dianne! do you glue them? if so what's the glue you are using.otherwise it would damage the stamp. |

OK, Nash... Let's get this clarified. Once you said 'paste' and now you've said 'glue' ... NEVER use paste, glue, or tape on your stamps! NEVER!Use mounts or hinges; use a stock book; use glassines; if you must, keep them in ziplock bags. But NEVER use glue. Hinges are cheap -- a few dollars per 1000. For example, see http://www.subwaystamp.com/prodinfo...mber=ZGKPFHM Of course, there are several other places to purchase supplies. KirkS |

Nash do we get paper hinges available in Sri Lanka? I asked around but non of the places had them. Using home made albums print outs is more economical and one can add pages to it as one wants. I wanted to do it but cudnt find hinges so decided to keep my stamps in stock books. |
