yes.that's my question? this 1929 guide line pair edison's first lamp the left stamp has a small ink spot! can anybody tell if this is what you call a"natural inclusion"? the stamp comes from an all mint stamp album and has never been cancelled.

I can't tell what the spot is. Looks like it shows on back of the stamp also.

Question: why do you refer to this as "joint line pair"?

edw,
Not a line pair, just a pair.

The spot is not ink, it appears to be a natural inclusion (or stain?). A natural inclusion is defined as any imperfection embedded in the stamp paper, often of significantly different color than the stamp itself (i.e. a piece of wood fiber from the paper manufacturing process). Inclusions usually detract from the value of the stamp.

The most obvious attribute of this pair is that it is very faulty, the large thin greatly impacts it's desirability and value.

Thanks guys. I didn't see the line either. The dot appears to be normal to me. (not an ink spot)

While I didn't answer the question well, I didn't want to leave you thinking you had a guide line pair. That's why I mentioned it in my reply.
