But it's not the end.....keep those unusual items coming in.
Now I'm off to bed.
That's not unusual.

Here is something unusual I received from another friend during my trip to the UK. It formed part of a larger packet of wonderful items. Some people are just so lovely. For you...... Next up.....part of the prize for an upcoming competition ! Londonbus1....Searching through the goodies |

The scan below is of the front page from a free gift inserted into the October edition of of the UK's biggest Stamp Magazines. It is a reprint of their first magazine from 1934...75 years ago !! It makes for great reading, as does the later copy. This will be part of the prize being offered in the next Londonbus competition. More prizes will be added here, so watch this space. The competition is simple and will take place on this topic. Londonbus1.....so don't go away! |

You will have noticed that the main advert on the 1934 reprint was for Robson Lowe's Regent Stamp Catalogue, recently discussed here on another thread [although I didn't find it yet].
I will be posting at the weekend, some Exhibition items with close connections to Mr Robson Lowe. [In the Cinderella section]

Michael, I can absolutely use that card! I LOVE IT! I'm afraid if I hang it in the bathroom it will rust. My wife says I don't take showers, I take saunas. LOL |

The following items are not so unusual, although not too often seen. Issued by the TOTAL petrol company to commemorate the Queens Jubilee in 1977, they were given away as a gift at their Petrol stations throughout the UK. [After the purchase of a full tank that is !]. They depict the Queen and/or Duke at various gatherings and events and an album could be purchased to put them in. I have a collection both MNH and in the Album but I have never before seen them in their own glassines. A most unusual find and for just a few pennies too. Sadly, I only found three sheets, how nice it would have been to have found the full set ! If anyone else comes across these sheets in their original glassines, please let me know. Londonbus1.....anyone collect glassines??? |

The picture below shows three items of Bus Posts. The two on the right are from the Vectis Bus Company, on the Isle of Wight off the south coast of England.Issued during the Postal Strike of 1971. It seems like everyone wanted to help the mail get through !! I had been after copies of these two for some time and found rather cheaply. I was more than a little surprised. However, the unusual item on the left suits this topic better. An Isle of Wight Post Bus ticket issued by Royal Mail in the form of a pair of Machins cancelled with an autobus handstamp. I think it's rather neat. Londonbus1.....and of course, unusual ! |
