GD all 1st post.

I am looking for a C5.They mostly look the same, brownish interior. There is a new one on ebay that is pure white. Is that washed? If so does it reduce values. It sure looks good.

Opinions? Tnx R.

Welcome to Stamp Community Forum!!

C5 is supposed to be dark blue. If the scan appears brownish, they may have pilfered the picture from the Scott catalogs because many of the color Scott catalogs I have seen are not color-matched properly and the C5 appears almost brownish.

Please show a comparison scan so that we know what you mean by "pure white"?

Kim

The last one there. Sorry, I am still learning.

I come from the coin world where dipping has been stopped cold by PCGS etc. What does PSE think of this--if it is washing?

It went right into my snipe with that number.

Anyway. Does PSE have any policy on "altered stamps? I guess you get used stamps by soaking them. Maybe PSE is not as hard as PCGS which along with NGC rule the coin market. I dipped a 1921 Peace dollar to get rid of tape someone had put on it, now the coin is just about worthless. Big lesson.

The ebay lot number works, Tom. Maybe you just cut/paste it wrong?

I don't think the stamp has been altered. I think the scan settings were set so that the resulting pic is very bright and high contrast.
