Using Scott catalog, top stamp is Turkey #96 issued in 1898.

Bottom stamp appears to be either Iran #727 or #743. Check Scott catalog for measurements and design differences. Your stamp appears imperforate, which is not Scott listed. However, counterfeits about for almost all the early Iran stamps.

Thanks, that helps. Both stamps have perforations on all sides, they are just so thin and pale--I should have used a darker background so it would show better...I'll do better next time as I have some more unidentifiables to post. I was trying to keep the .jpgs down to posting requirements and it just didn't come out very good.

Stampdog.....

You'll get better with a little practice.....do you have a photo program that you can use to re-size your pictures ?...reducing them slightly while still showing perfs would be ok.

Yes, I use photoshop, but am used to workig with bigger items. The next ones I'll resize and make much smaller and try to get all the stamp in the picture. Thanks again. Back to sorting.

Stampdog.....

I find that most pictures show well if the larger side is about 595 x whatever.

Thank you very much. That helps a great deal. I'll keep that on my desk while I'm sorting.

Oops didn't see this thread. Looks like you've got a good answer here. I can't find anything to add other than the item should be Perf. 11.

* Edit: The Iran item that is.
