Hello!
The following stamps have 'facsimile' on them. Are they real stamps? Did they ever use ones like this? Would appreciate any info on them.

If you have a Scott Specialized catalog, that should help you considerably. They could be found on actual newpapers and wrappers for official use. Very nice set you have there.

"facsimile" means they are not real stamps. They were/are often produced to look exactly like a real stamp but to avoid being guilty off producing counterfeit stamps the word "facsimile" got them off the hook. I think the modern term "FAX" comes from facsimile; not the real McCoy but a close copy.
