Hello All, I am brand new to the forum and don't know a thing about stamps. Back in the 90's I purchased all 20 of the collector panels from the Postal Commemorative society, I think they were $10 a panel. Each panel has a stamp just the same as the panel itself. So my question is does anyone know if there is any real value to these panels and/or stamps? I apologize if this has been ask a million times. These are the names on the panels.
Robert E. Lee Clara Barton "Stonewall" Jackson David Farragut Jefferson Davis Harriet Tubman Ulysses S. Grant Joseph E. Johnston Chancellorsville Mary Chestnutt Frederick Douglass Gettysburg Winfield Hancock Abraham Lincoln Monitor* Virginia Phoebe Pember Raphael Semmes William T. Sherman Shiloh Stand Watie
Most items of this sort have a low resale value. I myself have some PCS items for the US Mint's Statehood Quarter collection and the USPS's Greetings From... stamps series. I also have dozens of Native American collector plates, Franklin Mint pocket watches, and other things that I would be hard pressed to resale at their purchase price. However, they can be of interest to a topical collector or specialists.
I would love to see the Abraham Lincoln panel as I am an Abraham Lincoln collector. I imagine the stamps they used were from the USPS Civil War stamp sheet of that timeframe.
Thank you for the welcome Stamperdude. I kind of figured the prices would drasticly fall after they got rid of their inventory. Its still a nice collectors item though. I wish I had a camera, but its one of those things I never got in to, one day maybe. The stamps are exact replica's of the panels. Mini Me's. lol. I also was given 100's of stamps last Sept., but don't know diddly about them. I saw a repeat of Pawn Stars yesterday where a man had a couple thousand stamps that were called worthless, that wasn't very encouraging for me. Where is the best site to look at pics of stamps that do have value? So, I guess my 32 cent stamps are worth face value. Thanks again.
