OK
probably SG70 (1879) if wmk crown CC sideways
or SG76 (1882) wmk crown CA sideways

Nice stamp, I have lots in worse order than yours BeeSee,
tis a very unusual colour in the stamp world.

Their sisters are the blinding and useless 2d "chrome yellow" an
illustration how the authorities got it right and wrong
in successive values of the same stamp.

These stamps became my favourite ones last year. Made to celebrate The Canadians Hockey team 100Th Anniversary. They are astonishing. Each stamp has a kind of 3D Image that moves to show you a famous goal of the team.

I must get a Penny Black one day.
I tried at an auction about a year ago, but got beaten.

Better late than never. here is mine

After returning home from a tour of duty at sea, Life Magazine photographer Alfred Eisenstadt took this, perhaps the most famous photograph of two people kissing. It ment the end of WWII.

Since I was in WWII here is the stamp.

This stamp, in all its permutations, is currently my favorite.

I think it is beautiful.

Clarior e tenebris = brighter from obscurity.

I am a novice student of early ship design,
I am a little confused with the design shewing
the "poop" combined with a square rig.

I would have thought it had to been a lateen (latin)
triangular sail, at least aft.

Stamp illustrates the beauty of bicolour.

Lovely stamp my man!

In naval architecture, a poop deck is a deck that forms the roof of a cabin built in the aft (rear) part of the superstructure of a ship.

The name originates from the French word for stern, la poupe, from Latin puppis. Thus the poop deck is technically called a stern deck, which in sailing ships was usually elevated as the roof of the stern or "after" cabin, also known as the "poop cabin". In sailing ships, with the helmsman at the stern, an elevated position was ideal for both navigation and observation of the crew and sails.

I agree that the 10-shilling is a beauty. And I also agree that the boat doesn't look quite right. SG says that the badge of the colony depicts Columbus' flagship, presumably the flagship from his third voyage where he first saw Grenada. Anyone know?

The rear cabin looks out of scale with the rest of the boat. Here is the first depiction, from QV's reign, issued in 1898 for the 400th anniversary of Columbus discovering Grenada. I'd say the artist did a little better with the boat.

SG56 (or 56a if bluish paper...significant premium for 56a, esp. used)

On at least one of his voyages (I think the first), Columbus had put into port and changed lateen rigs over to square-rigged sails under the assumption that he could use the greater push from steady winds, and didn't need the maneuverability that would come from lateen rigs.

Wow! Lots of really cool stuff.

I just picked these up, so they may be my current favorites. Scott C1 and C6 -- probably entry level stuff compared to some of the exotica here. Would have to do some digging and thinking to come up with a single true favorite from my small collection...
