Well I made the plunge and won and paid for a #313 average in the centering with a light cancellation and what I think is a small thin, this stamp you don't see that often at auction so I think I was lucky to win this and if it wasn't for the big money stamps that were auction the day before I don't think I would have, these stamps were a Scott #1,#2 and the third was a $7000 stamp the went for over $3600 which I can't remember what Scott number it has.
The address to this #313 is quite long so for those who would like to see it before I can post a photo please email me,I should have it in a fortnight for those that can wait.

Regards from this happy little camper

Congratulations! I'd like to see it as well.

The 2010 Scott Stamp Values: U.S. Specialized by Grade shows a used value spread from $200 for a VG(50) through $9,000 for a Sup(98) with their baseline VF(80) valued at $750. The PSE online price guide comes in slightly lower at $170, $8,400 and $600 respectively.

That wide valuation range gets at some of what was being discussed in response to Scouter's "Rule of Thumb?" posting in the Main Stamp Collecting Forum.

But to paraphrase that MasterCard commercial, "getting a stamp that you wanted...priceless"

nugget.. how powerless is you microscope?

meaning how low will it go?

i dug out of the basement a kids microscope kit that my daughter had as a kid.. still has slides for it. a mirror and/or light underneath.. it starts at 96x to 900x but even at 96x it is too powerful.. I can see every little thread in the paper... I think we got it a kids toy store for around 20 bucks a long time ago.. I guess I should be grateful it still works.. but I think I need something along the lines of 30 or 40 power.. more then the 10x power magnifier I have.

O.K. mate first I'd like to point out a fault that isn't in the description so on the right side bottom Daryl I think that is been reperfed, have a look at the way the perf been cut right side two up from the bottom,it stands out quite well with the shape's of the other perfs.
I'll post a few photo's of the microscope how I've set it up and what the screens look like, this photo is of the 2 computers and the top screen has the microscope attached.

this one's of the digi blue

this is what it look like on screen (sorry about the coin )

there are 3 settings which are X10

and X60

I haven't a photo of the X200 as all you see are fibers,so this is why I like this microscope,I can up load photo's to the net without too much hassle.

regards Harry

what kind of microscope is that?

I like it..
I am still looking for a decent UV lamp.. decent in price anyway.

you are right on with the perfs.. I have been noticing a lot of stamps that have been refperfed, lately. Maybe it's just me becoming more aware. Straight edges on perfs make me suspicious right away.

I was happy with my 25+ year old battery-operated Panasonic Light Scope (FF-393E) until I saw that setup.

Very nice!
