Hi,

Maybe someone know how it is possible to have a shape like that on a stamp?

I don't think it is a damage... but maybe.

Thank you!

The perfs look like they have been snipped off.

Hi Londonbus1,

That's what I think too... but in this case, this stamp is certainly off center if I compare with others.

Thank you!

This looks like a Sc#1519, Coil Issue, Perf 10 but I may be mistaken.
I cannot see the poor centring but because it's a coil issue, that may explain it.
The top looks like it hasn't been touched, just the bottom and right sides.
Any chance of a better, full on pic or scan ?

Hi Londonbus1,

This is the best picture I can do with a 8X loop... I don't have a scan at home.

Thank you!

Thanks for that.
I have just checked my Coil and Sheet issues and the centring is very inconsistent.
Yes, I am of the belief this is just a damaged stamp......or should I say tampered stamp !@!

Bin it is the obvious solution. You will be able to find a better copy soon enough.

Londonbus1.

It is a #1519 and I agree with Londonbus1 that it is damaged rather than an error.

I recall cutting into a number of stamps when hastily trying to remove them from their envelopes before soaking.

However, that series is not without its problems as evidenced by these examples of miscut, misperf, and color shift that I pulled off of the Internet:

Take a close look at the perforations on both side of this coil stamp, it surely appears that they were cut with scissors or other cutting tool. Where perforations remain, all have straight edges, not ragged as would happen if separated by normal tearing. The bottom curved edge just looks as if someone got sloppy with the scissors, most likely when the corner of the envelope was trimmed prior to soaking. I would would agree that it is a damaged stamp.
