Shahnaz Dam (Ekbatan Dam) is a concrete dam on Abshineh rivar 12 km southeast of the city of Hamedan . It is used for freshwater storage and supply as well as recreation.

Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi Dam (Dez Dam) is an arch dam on the Dez River in the southwestern province of Khuzestan. The primary purpose of the dam is hydroelectric power production and irrigation. It has an associated 520 MW power station.

The Litani River Dam, completed in 1959, is located at 60 km southeast of Beruit. It is 60 meters high and 1,350 meters in length. The dam is built primarily for irrigation and power generation. Its hydroelectric power station has a capacity of 185 MW.

The Ohra Dam lies on the north side of the Thuringian Forest in the district of Gotha, near the village of Luisenthal. The 59 m-high, 260 m-long rockfill dam was completed in 1967 for freshwater supply.

Set of eight; one stamp depicts Shkopet Dam on the Mat River.
Shkopet Dam is a concrete gravity dam located in the Ulez Regional Natural Park on the Mat River. The dam is 48.8 m in height and 89 m in length. The hydroelectric power station has a capacity of 24 MW.

Completion of the El Chocón Hydroelectric Power Plant

The El Chocón Dam is on the Limay River in the northwestern Argentine Patagonia, at about 80 km upstream of its confluence with the Neuquén River.
El Chocón is used for flood control, irrigation, and the generation of hydroelectricity. Its power station, with six 210 MW turbines, is the largest hydroelectric power plant in Patagonia.

Set of six; one stamp features the Mooserboden Dam.
Mooserboden Dam is an arch gravity dam in the high mountain region of Hohe Tauern. The dam, 107 meters high and 500 meters long, is one of the dams operated by the Kaprun power plants which provide electricity to the Salzburg region.

One of the seven stamps shows the Louros River Dam.
The Louros River Dam is located at 45 km south of the city of Ioannina in Preveza prefecture. The arch gravity dam is 18 m in height and 97 m in length. The 10.3 MW power station began operation in 1954.

November 26, 1957
Ogochi Dam is a gravity dam on Tama River in Tokyo Prefecture, 60 km west of the Tokyo metropolitan area. The dam, 149 m in height and 350 m in length, forms Lake Okutama for supplying water to 13 million residents in the greater Tokyo area.

The 50th Anniversary and 13th Congress of International Commission on Large Dams
October 29, 1979
Hirakud Dam is on the Mahanadi River about 15 km from Sambalpur in the state of Odisha in eastern India. The Hirakud Reservoir behind the dam is 55 km long. It is one of the first major multipurpose river valley projects started after India's independence. The hydroelectric power station has a total installed capacity of 347.5 MW.
