These beautiful coastal birds were jointly issued by four countries bordering the Baltic Sea: Mare Balticum. They appeared in 1992 in booklets of 2X4 stamps and had a description in English (I hope you can read it) as well as in the language of the respective country. Engravers: M. Mörck, C. Slania, L. Löhmus and L. Sjööblom.

Even though this is NOT a stamp joint issue, it is a postal stationery joint issue. US & ITALY. Both issued in 1986, the US is Scotts # UX111, and the Italaian is Michels # P222.

It commeretaes Francesco Vigo and his efforts in the US Revolutionary War.

I just read today that the USPS says that there have been 45 joint issues with other countries, but they do not include the 2001 Frida Kahlo with Mexico or the Enrico Fermi with Italy on their list.

The list did include a joint with Mexico of the 1996 (SC# 3105) Endangered Species sheet, but I could not find a similar issue in an online catalog.

The list also has a joint with 7 countries: Canada, Denmark, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway & Sweden for the 2007 International Polar Year, but all of these countries issued a different stamp for the Polar Year, only Finland's looked anything like the US wit the northern lights.
