Greece, Romania, Yugoslavia, Turkey
Joint Issue - Balkan Pact
1937 - 1938
The Balkan Pact (the Balken Entente) was a treaty signed by Greece, Turkey, Romania and Yugoslavia on February 9, 1934 in Athens, aimed at maintaining the geopolitical stability in the region following World War I. The stamps adopted a common design of the coat of arms, with each country showing her coat of arms in front of those of the other three countries. Despite of their different issuing dates, this set of four stamps are considered as the world's very first joint issue.
