Here are a few cut squares off of postal stationery items from Egypt dating back to the 1890's, I think:

While I know cut squares are generally not of much value and have limited collectability, I am wondering if there is a catalog listing for them, as they are not listed in Scott.

Thanks.

Fez on....

These are quite collectable and very attractive I think.

I collected Egypt stamps for a long time but never got around to seriously looking for Postal Stationery items. The few I have are shown below.
The following are guesses as I have no catalogue, but it won't be far out of date.
The top left, 1 piastre Ultramarine is from 1881 in use until 1902/3. Envelope.

Top middle. 1888 Rose-Carmine, in use until 1914. Envelope.

Top right. 1888, Green, in use until 1914, Envelope.

Bottom left. 1888, Deep Brown, in use until 1914, Envelope

Bottom middle, Same as top middle but would like to know if it feels like an envelope or Postal Card. Most likely a Brown envelope [possibly private?] as it seems Postal Cards had the stamp image. Pity it was cut off in the wrong place, there was some printed text to the left of design !

Bottom Right. This one I know is from 1888 because I once had a First Day Postal Card with two stamps affixed. It was attractive but I sold it when I started to sell my Egypt collection.

The value is around 75c at a guess. I paid about 50p-£1 for those below except the 5m Surcharge which was a bit more.[Only known on pre-paid envelopes I believe].

From 1914, Stamps and Postal Stationery were inscribed Egypt Postage.

Londonbus1......Fez off.

If you can beg, borrow or steal a copy of Higgins and Gage Vol. 5, you should be able to get some catalogue numbers that would help in your organizing. That won't help you with current values, though.

I have seen, but do not have, the old Zeheri catalogue. I have not held in my hands (and, it probably goes without saying, do not have) either Stamps of Egypt by Balian or The Nile Post by Chalhoub. Any of the three might be candidates for listings, but I can't verify that.

If you're an APS member, I bet most or all of these could be borrowed...

Thanks for all of the good information. I probably won't go any further with it, as it appears the catalogs with such listings are relatively scarce, and I only have the six examples shown, so not really enough to bother with.

To respond to Londonbus1, the bottom middle variety appears to be on brown paper, as you have suggested. The design is embossed fully through to the other side. It is not postal card weight at all, but very thin brown paper. I know what you mean about the way it was cut, the only thing showing is part of the letter "E" just before the embossed design.

I do appreciate all the help.

Here is an interesting one I havent been able to find in Scotts. The cancellation is not that legible, although I think the year may be 1922. The affixed stamp may be SC# 66, although I cannot verify the watermark without removing it from the envelope, and I don't want to do that. The embossed stamp depicts 2 seated figures, havent seen this 'cut square' anywhere else, so I don't know what to make of it. Any help with ID, catalogue #, estimated value, any feedback greatly appreciated.

Your Postal Stationery envelope most likely dates from 1914 although I do not have a catalogue for such items.

The 10m value shows the Colossi of Thebes, the stamp of which was issued on Jan 8th 1914.

The 5m make-up value is Sc#82, issued on Oct 10th 1922 so your cover dates from then until the end of the month. The day is not clear to my eye !
The stamp was one of the values of the first 'Kingdom of Egypt' issue. Sultan Ahmed Fuad became King on March 15th and the date is on the overprint.

Hope this helps a little.

If I squint, I'm seeing 1 NO 22 8-9A, which I take to mean the morning of November 1, 1922. Thoughts?
