I keep telling myself that I have enough areas to work on, enough blank spaces to fill, enough to keep me busy, and too little money to do it all.

So, I keep repeating to myself, "I do not collect British Antarctic Territory..."

On the other hand, since I have a fresh supply of Vario sheets, I figured I may as well pull these out of the glassine envelope

I picked up this set some time ago for next to nothing; of course, you'll notice that Scott 15, the high value, is missing. It catalogs for over $50, so it is pretty low on my priority list. Maybe the Zen thing will work for me; sometimes the easiest way to find something is to not look for it.

Why does the Queen look so warm on those stamps and everything else looks so cold? It's magic! Maybe she should have a nice fur cap on or a toque or something? Ear muffs anyway.

Because when one reigns, one does not show emotion or that one is affected by one's surroundings. One is probably wearing superb British-made thermal underwear, but of course one would never tell this to anyone.

Well, my approach would be to be very happy with what you have, and display it so it's not obvious that there is a stamp missing.

Going for completion is a VERY DANGEROUS mindset - both expensive and obsession-inducing.

So whenever I feel the urge coming on to complete a particular set, I take it as a sign to move on to another part of my collection. And I move on fast, before the obsession has a chance to take hold.

(On a map of stamp collecting, the area of completing a set would be definitely be marked "Here be dragons"!)

But Her Majesty has such great taste in fashion, one would think She would carry it off with the elan and dignity that She usually does.

I like this set but if I could afford to collect more countries I would choose in the same area "French Southern and Antarctic Territories". They have beautiful stamps. But again like one of my teacher once defined economics- To satisfied unlimited needs with limited resources- I try to adapt my needs to my limited resources.

The French are nice. And Australia. Don't forget the New Zealand stamps go back to 1908 -- I think they were the first.

We DID collect Antarctic and here are a couple of covers -
not just rubbing it in that the £1 value is on the cover

We were out of the country when these covers arrived and the couple house-sitting our place were witless when they were delivered. Did not know how to handle them or what to do. They were so relieved when we returned to collect them.

her "london to Nottingham" letter 1809
in the stamp news of Feb 2008
always magic stuff.

If she is there, can you ask her what
"London evening duty date stamp in 3 letters" means?
I couldn't work that out.

Thanks for the 'Welcome back' Rod -
We have not shuffled off this mortal or anything - just had a few problems.
Eunice explains -
The wording should be
"The date in 3 figures" a reference to the way the date was shown over a period of years. It started with only two figures ie 97 (for 1797) then it developed to three figures in this case 809 (for 1809) and then finally went in to the full four figures for the full year.
Sorry not to have made that plainer.

Thought I would update this thread. If you saw my other post about cleaning my office, I stumbled across a thin white notebook, the contents of which I had forgotten.

Turns out it contained a couple Vario pages with my B.A.T.



Also during the cleanout, I found an envelope from Londonbus with a couple short sets of B.A.T, so I added them to the vario pages.

I don't have a B.A.T. catalog, but some time ago, I made copies of the Scott catalog pages. I use them for note-taking and as a checklist. There are only a few pages, so I punched holes in them and put them in the front of the notebook:



Finally, using a trick I learned from Rod, I jumped out to Wikipedia and copied the B.A.T. crest and created a very simple title page for the notebook -- which slipped into the clear pocket on the front of the notebook:



Now my reversal is official, I DO COLLECT British Antarctic Territory...
