A very interesting looking stamp from a mixed lot that arrived today. It's a Turkish stamp (I think) with some kind of post-WWI overprint.

Does anyone know what it is/where it's from/what it's worth?

You'll find it in Stanley Gibbons Part 1: British Commonwealth under Iraq. II Issues for Mosul. 1919. Turkish fiscal stamps surcharged by Govt Press, Baghdad as on your stamp:
Postage
I.E.F. 'D'
denomination
Your example is SG8
I.E.F. 'D' stands for Indian Expeditionary Forces, Force D Mesopotamia

A tricky one JimJam,

2 clues : IEF = Indian Expeditionary Force
8 annas = Indian Currency.

Gibbons still tricks you, and places it under Iraq

Section 2 Issues for Mosul
Type 1 opt
SG 8 (1919) Turkish fiscal stamp opt

CV=GBP 5 (1990)

Thanks for the image, I have never seen these before.

------------

IEF India opts and Iraq opts Mesopotamia (Not Mine)
Cover

There is still another Chicane to encounter,
the EEF (Egyptian Expeditionary Force) included Indian troops
and used IEF stamps in Indian FPO's, the only way to distinguish
is by Cancellation Numbers on the stamp

Yes, I was baffled by the combination of a Turkish looking stamp with clues (such as 'Annas') pointing instead to India.

Gibbons rates it £4 currently. According to Robson Lowe, 73,000 of the 8 Annas surcharges were made.

Big difference between Gibbons and Scott listing. Scott used Mesopotamia for British occupation stamps 1917-22.
