Before scanning it, I had this one as Rogowice, a tiny village in Poland, but looking at more carefully, I see it is Roudnice, Czechoslovakia (Raudnitz in German), a slightly larger village of 500-odd people today. No idea about 1916. |

First ever purchase from ebay , and only 20$ the two of them (shipping included) This is from SZALA-EGERSZEG (now it`s Zalaegerszeg) to SZOMBATHELY. Seems to be a circular to the parish in Zalaegerszeg (left side, different handwriting: `made public on 29th september`) this one was sent from Austria (Graz), but, well for the sake of the 2 Hungarian postmarks I bid on this too (this cost me less, only 3,15) |

Nice covers Wadmalatz! I got on ebay this 99c Bielitz, which is now Bielsko in Poland, but was in Eastern Silesia in 1920 during the attempted plebiscite. |

Here is another piece of postal stationery. This is postmarked "Triest" on Austrian postal stationery. April 28, 1894. Note the addition of 2 Italian postage due stamps applied at the receving end "Firenze". I am enjoying this thread. Let's keep it going... |

Bielitz again, this time on a Polish stamp for use in the Polish sector of Eastern Silesia. Notice the cancel is still an old Austrian one, 25 May, 1920. |

Nice cover Stallzer; I have not seen that type of cancel before.
Perhaps IGL refers to Iglau, now Jihlava in the Czech Republic. |

Hi, The postmark is "Igls", a village that's now part of Innsbruck in Austria. |

It's actually a Post Card but I have not seen this cancel before (Which isn't saying much) but I do have some pre-1900 & Turn of the century Austrian Stamps, but none with this particular cancel. Thanks again Nigel, would you happen to know when this village was incorporated into Innsbruck ? |

I have grown quite interested in these early Austrian stamps. I love the design of the early 20th century. These are some I picked up here on SCF earlier this year. Most don't have very clear cancels, but these intrigue me. See if you experts can decipher them JHS perfin, but can't make out the cancel very well. ?MBOR? possibly ZO'MBOR in the south of Hungary? Though there seem to be traces of other letters before and after. ?CHESTAR HOHENE?? possibly Hohenems? HLAU could be anywhere ?RAZ my best guess is Graz This one is interesting. It's much clearer from the back. ONITZ-TASSWIT flipped and rotated And really intriguing, I think, on this semi postal BLANCA ???????? |
