Hi stallzer, This appears to have been in 1942 looking at the German and Dutch wikipedia articles.

Borgo. I am not sure where that is (or was). I have found references as being near Trieste, or Trentino. Any help here?

Regardless, I am sure the Borg were assimilated there

Borgo.
1. Borgo di Valsugana - in South Tirol (probably this is the one)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borgo_Valsugana

2.Borgo in Corsica (unlikely)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borgo,_Haute-Corse

3. Borgo San Dalmazzo - in Piedmont (Piemont)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borgo_San_Dalmazzo

4. Borgo San Donnino- Parma region
http://www.saintwiki.com/index.php?..._San-Donnino

5. Well, in Transylvania (Hungarian Kingdom)- were a few places also:
Also- Borgo, Felso- Borgo, Borgoprund etc., but only Borgoprund is known as having a postmark from that era, and as `BORGOPRUND` (so I would exclude these possibilities)

I agree Wadmalatz, I believe it has to be Borgo Valsugana, now in the province of Trentino in Italy.

I don't see any other Borgo that would have used this stamp at the time. For example, there are several places called Borgo in Lombardy but they would have used the similar stamps with the Lombardy-Venetia currency. The other Italian ones you mention weren't in Austrian territory.

Wien / Telegrafengebaude (`a` in -baude with `Umlaut`). I found one postmark at ebay on a postal stationery:

My guess is that `Telegrafengebaude` (Gebaude-building) simply refers to the building (office), probably this one:

this postmark being used on mail/telegram/parcel etc

Might be similar to the Belgium telegraph stamps I am interested in. They were also used to pay the extra speedy delivery charge on an arriving mail piece. I think.

Aha!
that makes sense.
My imagination had a small Telegraph office,
not a large handsome stone structure offered.
Thanks Wadmalatz / Puzzler.

Perhaps someone can help with the year of this cover. It has a pair of 10Kr stamps and if I'm reading this right the cancel is from Salzburg.
