It seems to be a day/month postmark, without year (27. august?). These stamps (both fine and coarse print)were valid till 31.10.1884. Seems a fine-print to me (but I`m no expert) and if so, bw. 1874-1884 oct. From 1 July 1875 (the UPU came to effect) costs for foreign mail became standard- in Austria for foreign letters: 10 Kreuzer for every 20 gram (so this letter was heavier than 20 gr.). A foreign postcard= 5 Kreuzer (to Hungary, Serbia, Montenegro- letter= 5-7 Kreuzer/ postcard to Serbia and Montenegro= 4 Kreuzer).

Here is a close up of the cancel. I can't make out the numbers but hopefully someone with better eyes than mine can. |

To me it seemd a 27. SALZBURG B.H. /27/8/ 2.U. This could mean: SALZBURG BAHNHOF 27. AUGUST 2 UHR Salzburg Station 27th August 2 o`clok |

ANWSNG = Anweisung, probably GELD ANWEISUNG= money order. The postmark on the right probably contains the place, second letter is `R`, third probably `A`- KRAKAU???, PRAG ???? On the 50 kr denomination the `GELD ANWSNG` postmark occurs frequently... |

.... and the Hungarian `Pénzutalvány`. The highest denomination of the Hungarian 1871 issues (the 25 Kr Franz Joseph) are almost exclusively cancelled with `Pénzutalvány`- Money Order postmarks... I guess in the Austrian part of the Empire the situation was the same: the highest denomination of the 1867 issue (50 kr) was usually used for money orders... |

The following is an elliptical postmark with month/day date, only a fragment: ...ESSBURG In the former Hungarian Kingdom this could only be: (SCHA)ESSBURG (now SIGHISOARA in Romania, hungarian name SEGESVÁR, or (PR)ESSBURG (now BRATISLAVA, former POZSONY - Hungary. I would consider this a PRESSBURG cancellation (a PRESSBURG elliptical postmark is listed, and only circular postmarks are listed under SCHAESSBURG). Do you know of any other place in Austrian Empire ending with ESSBURG? (I hope there is not any , I only keep postmarks of Hungary) |

Wadmalatz, unless there is something else going on behind the town name ( a la the Salzburg B.H., above), Pressburg fits the centering, and Schaessburg would not. So, I think you're on track. |
