Does anyone know where this cancellation strike is from? Are those initials E.G.? This is also a K perfin just to the right of the king's image. Any information greatly appreciated. Jeff

Hi Jeff, It's a London, E.C. postmark. The EC (East Central) area of London is essentially the City of London. This type of cancellation is called a "hooded circle" (or "scroll") and this is a late usage - they were mostly used in Victorian times.

The "K" perfin is probably from either Henry S. King & Co., Bankers, Cornhill, London EC or J. C. King Ltd, Stationers & Printers, London EC1.
