I had thought these stamps were from Romania (the currency), but I cannot find them in the Scott catalogue so I'm surely wrong. Could one of you please help me in identifying them.
Thanks so much.
Donna

According the inscript, these are charity stamps for Romanian in Transsylvania (in 1915 part of Hungary), these are Romanian stamps. Here you have the full set (in 2 colors). Were postally used.

I believe it is Romanian as the "Timbru de Ajutor" means Postal Tax. Perhaps issued under an occupation or a local Cinderella ? Also the monetary term Bani is Romanian. Could also be a Postage due or perhaps a Soldiers relief fund.

`pentru ardeleni`=for Transsylvanians (Transsylvania lat., Erdély hungarian, Ardeal romanian). I didn`t find it in Michel Katalog, but a Romanian Stamp Catalogue (2006)lists it. No watermark (although some stamps can have vertical lines as wmk), perforation 11 1/2. CV is given in Euro, MNH,MH= 5 Eur, used= 10 Eur, on cover 150 Eur.

Thank you so much for the info! I will keep them with my Romanian stamps (in a miscellaneous/tax type category).

The stamps portray the Roman emperor Trajan who conquered the area
of present day Romania and created the province of Dacia Traiana.

Lots of history in stamps which makes our hobby so interesting.

Having Roman Emperors plunked and flanking upon my doorstep is just the way I envisage my new palace. Thanks for the subconscious suggestion Rod!

The prcatice is alive and well in Perth Puzz,
Some Italian builders still have (usually) a brace of lions
on their gate pillars.
I bid on a reproduction Minerva for my back garden some years
ago, I thought she looked so cool.
I lost interest at $800 as the price climbed.
