Hi, Interesting bunch! The blue one is a Hungarian telegraph stamp from 1874. The purple and green ones are Hungarian local provisional postage due stamps from 1918/19. The orange one is from Western Hungary from 1921. |

Quote: Thanks, are any of these cataloged in Scott? I doubt it but I haven't looked. The telegraph stamp and the Western Hungarian one are listed in Michel. Michel mentions the PORTO overprints but doesn't list them. |

Beautiful. I didn't find that article. I am particularly interested in that because I am putting together a set of different "places". I have an extensive stamp collection that is a holdover from when I was a kid. I have a lot of stuff, I really don't know what I've got. In an attempt to reconnect with the collection I'm going through it and pulling out one from each "place" with place being very generously defined. In Hungary I made a distinction between the different govts, including Austro-Hungary, Republic, Soviet, Kingdom, People's Republic, and Republic. However, I stopped collecting in the mid 80s so....nothing from the current govt. I'm also gathering one of each type within each govt. One regular issues, one semi-postal, one airmail, etc. Obviously, the occupation ones made it larger. I came up with 32 different ones using this method. However, this still leaves a HUGE box filled with all kinds of stuff. And that is just Hungary. I already tackled Poland and Romania before this. I think this is going to be a big job, I just dumped out Russia to go through. |

Quote: I'm also gathering one of each type within each gov't That is great! I am doing that too, and I am doing one page for each entity, complete with maps. Right now I am close to you as I am working on the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Here is an example of a page I did for Tasmania, Australia, and the help I cot from SCF members: https://goscf.com/t/10625&whichpage=1 |

Neat pages. I'm primarily a coin guy (sorry!) so I store things a little bit differently. I've decided to put this set of different stuff in dollar size 2 X 2's, individual holders for coins. I can then store them in the boxes which are specially designed for this purpose. This endeavor to gather different places is an extension of what we call OFEC (One From Each Country) in the coin world. Everyone likes to brag how big their OFEC collection is, but I'd bet none of them include Lajtabánság (the Western Hungary stamp). I know that stamps will provide a huge number of "places" that the world of coins does not. |
